Metro Plus Paratransit Service is an appointment-based service of River Valley Metro for people with disabilities who are functionally unable to independently use the River Valley Metro fixed route bus service either all of the time, temporarily, or only under certain circumstances. Trips can be made for any purpose. It can be used for doctor’s appointments, getting to work or school, or shopping for groceries. But also think of Metro Plus for social trips such as going out to dinner, visiting a friend at their home, or going to the movies. You are not limited to the number of trips that you can take. Metro Plus is there to help you live your life independently.

Here is the Application Process
- Complete Application (either online or paper copy and submit)
- When the application is received, you will be contacted to set up an in-person interview. River Valley Metro will provide free transportation to and from the interview.
- Once the interview is completed and Metro will work on completing the process with the Professional Verification, but you are eligible to start riding River Valley Metro immediately.
- You will be eligible to ride the system for 21 days or until the application process is complete. If the application process is not complete on day 22, you are able to continue riding until a determination has been made.
- If your eligibility has been denied and you wish to appeal this decision, you will be able to ride until the appeal process is complete.
Days and Hours of Service
Metro Plus operates the same hours as our fixed route service. With hours 7 days a week and every day of the year, you can get where you want to go 365 days a year.
Monday – Friday: 5:00 am – 9:30 pm
Saturday: 7:00 am – 9:30 pm
Sunday & Holidays* 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
*Holidays include: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
What is the cost?
For only $2.00 for a one-way trip, Metro Plus can get you anywhere our fixed route service goes! After 6:00 pm the cost is only $1.00. Service goes from Aroma Park to Manteno. Metro serves the entire urbanized area.
Where Metro Plus Serves
Metro Plus can get you anywhere within the urbanized area of Kankakee Conty. This includes Aroma Park, Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais and Manteno. Thís is a shared ride service, that provides origin to destination services. You will be riding with other passengers and likely will not go directly to your destination. Upon request, an operator may be able to assist the passenger to the exterior door of a destination, when safety permits.
