River Valley Metro Mass Transit District is a public service agency that offers three types of bus services for the residents of Kankakee County. All River Valley Metro buses are wheelchair accessible.
Service hours for River Valley Metro is as follows:
Monday – Friday: 5:00 am – 9:30 pm
Saturday: 7:00 am – 9:30 pm
Sunday and Major Holidays*: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
*Major Holidays – New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas
Traditional (fixed route) service covers the urbanized area of Kankakee County, with more than 300 bus stops in Aroma Park, Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais, Manteno and Manteno Township. All stops are served once an hour, with some of the stops having service every half hour. Fare on this service is $1.00 for a one-way trip.
Metro also provides commuter shuttle service to Midway Airport and to the Metra train station in University Park. This service is a Park-N-Ride, with free parking at the Bourbonnais Metro Centre and the Manteno Metro Centre. Fare for this service is $2.00 for a one-way trip. Complimentary Paratransit Service, Metro Plus, for individuals with disabilities who are unable to independently use fixed route service. This service requires pre-qualification and operations by appointment. Metro Plus is a shared ride service that will pick you up at your home and take you to your destination. Fare is $2.00 each way.
